Radiology
The addition of digital radiography to our practice in 2005 has pushed us a quantum step forward in the way x-ray images are processed and viewed. The fast capture speeds of our x-ray unit and the elimination of film processing and handling have made our radiology service second to none. The resolution is also improved and the images are electronically transferred (via the internet) to our radiologist for expert interpretation. This means your pet’s x-rays are completed more quickly and with less stress. Consequently, diagnoses and treatment are more rapid and accurate thereby shortening the average hospital stay. Few practices can combine this level of accuracy and efficiency so that diagnosis and treatments are accurate and timely.
To make the best possible x-rays your pet must be calm, relaxed and comfortable. Although the actual taking of the x-ray occurs within a split second, inappropriate movement during that time (by a nervous or uncomfortable pet) can result in a “blurred” image. Because your pet cannot be told to remain calm, the use of sedatives and analgesics (pain killers) to facilitate taking proper x-rays is common. In some cases (for example, x-rays of the skull), full anesthesia will be necessary to ensure the best possible result.
In addition to digital radiography we also offer specialized radiology services for cases requiring additional diagnostics.
